February planning meeting

We had a good turnout for this meeting.  We covered so many items, let me know if I missed any!

In case anyone missed it, January's meeting was cancelled due to the good fortunes of a local football team.

Our new hours are 6:45 - 8:45, and we have comfortable new chairs, too.

DUES

Our dues pay for this room.  Again this year, we'll pay $40 each, if able.  If that's a hardship for you, pay what you can, but pay something.  Lydia is accepting cash or check, which you should make payable to "Needle and I".  Your last chance to pay is the March meeting and Lydia will be there.

Guests will be allowed to attend two meetings before they must pay dues to continue.

PROGRAMS

We also discussed using our existing funds to invite a speaker or teacher for a meeting.  Every one of us is welcome to suggest a person for an event.  If need be, we will cancel one of our already scheduled programs to accommodate a guest speaker or teacher.

We discussed continuing our Blocks of the Month.  There will be 6 total.  JeanS will present one tonight that she had prepared for last November.  There will be two meetings presenting two blocks each.  The last block for 2024 will be presented alone, accompanied by a sew-in.  All of the remaining 5 blocks after tonight will be done demo style, so bring your sewing machine.

Some members asked for a Row by Row like we've done before.  Leslie will organize it.

SHOW & TELL

Sandra O. brought this quilt.  You'll recognize some of our past BOM blocks in it.  Others blocks came from her friend.

Gail and Jean S. took a clothes-making class through Quilting Mayhem.

We all know that Lydia makes bags, so what does her friend give her?  A bag.

Leslie picked up the center of this quilt at an Auffle.  It had been made and donated by Lydia.  Leslie added borders and quilted it.

Leslie got these blocks at the Auffle too.

Leslie hand quilted this.

Leslie will gift this Radical Rooster  appliqué to her sister.

Lydia made these blocks.  Justine got them at the Auffle and put them together.

Block of the Month

Jean S's block is a Moda pattern that comes in many sizes.

Here are two that Jean made.  Note how using 2 versus 3 fabrics changes the block.

And this photo shows the 4 identical units, before they are sewn together.
