It was a good planning meeting and review of rent, money, dues, and calendar for the year.
The 10 of us present agreed there really isn’t a need for a steering committee any longer. If we have something that needs attention, we will decide as a group.
Highlights
- Lydia volunteered to start every meeting and keep us on time. If she's not at the meeting, Leslie will do it.
- Lydia will put out a short ‘highlight’ email after each meeting for those who are absent.
- Sandra P. will continue the blog and provide details, photos, etc. Be sure to read and check it for all meeting coverage.
- Dues have come back, Effective immediately. It is a sliding scale. $25-$50.00 per year. Pay as much as you can. Lydia is treasurer and will be taking payments.
- We made a plan for this year's meetings, outlined below.
- At the beginning of the February meeting, there will be opportunities for people to sign up for the months we need to fill, and a review of what is assigned.
- There will be no Bingo party. We are trying to focus on sewing, quilting, etc.
- Auffle ticket prices will be 2 for &1.00.
- Lydia's peanut butter cookies.
Lydia's Peanut Butter Cookies
1 cup peanut butter (not the oily kind)3/4 cup sugar1 eggSplash vanilla1/2 tsp baking sodaDump together and mix with a spoon until blendedOptional-Add chocolate chipsScoop a small ball size on parchment paper lined cookie sheets. Flatten slightly.350F10-12 min.Remove from oven before edges turn brown. Let cool on cookie sheet.
2023 Meetings
- February - a charity of love event. We are making pet beds (the sacks will go home with you to fill with scraps). We need people to bring sewing machines or sergers, and cutting implements. Some those the places who may get beds based on their need are Animals First Foundation, Fur Babies, Fur Kids 911, Old Dog Haven, Purrfect Pals, Whisker City.
- March - sew-in plus two Demo Blocks. Instructions will be provided ahead of time. Presenters are Charlene and Sandra P.
- April - Mystery place mats plus a skill-building class: mitered binding with Leslie, info to come.
- May - Color wheel demo with Sue
- June - Sandra O. will lead us in making a charity quilt (sew-in)
- July - sew-in on charity quilt plus two Demo Blocks. Instructions will be provided ahead of time. Presenters are Sue and Leslie.
- August - UFO swap (just like last year) and Lydia will provide ice cream
- September - ?????
- October - Auffle, organized by Hope but everyone will set out their own donations. Leslie will sell tickets at 2 for $1.
- November - Two Demo Blocks. Instructions will be provided ahead of time. Presenters are Cathy and ANOTHER VOLUNTEER.
- December - Holiday party with competitive table decorating and a handmade ornament exchange
Justine received scraps from 3 Japanese-themed quilts that a friend's daughter made. This is the first quilt that she's made for herself! Leslie quilted it. Front and back are shown.
Hope made a new shopping bag after the one she lent out didn't come back.
