Twelve of us braved the heatwave for Sue's appliqué event.
Announcements:
- Bring quilty donations for Mary's place next month and/or in October. Trips for dropping off the donations are planned for both months.
- Next month Gail will present a pinwheel block, and Lydia & Ruth will present a table runner that we can start on site and finish at home to whatever size we desire.
- November will be the bowl class. We'll need to acquire some supplies for it and information will be coming in the newsletter.
Show & Tell
Lydia had lots to share.
She made hot mitts for a friend.
She brought her entry for Shawn's Monochromatic Challenge from our Shoreline days, which she made in a similar way to what Sue will show us today. Check out the dog peaking around one of the trees.
This is Alice the Airedale.
She made the pattern for this sea life scene using two layers of Press 'n Seal.
Leslie's niece is visiting from the Netherlands and she brought a quilt for Leslie to complete on her long arm. These are fabrics that Leslie gave her when she was much younger.
Jean brought two projects.
She made this from jelly rolls.
This scene was mostly quilted by hand with pearl cotton.
Gail got this top that was hand pieced by an unknown someone.
Sue's program
Sue brought several examples of fusible appliqué.
Sue brought lots of materials for each of us to create a scene, all pre-bonded to King bond lite. She also uses Steam-a-Seam Lite. Here are some shots of the group's efforts.
