January's planning meeting

 First, some good news.

Mary's Place will take our donation quilts and Jean's husband has graciously agreed to brave the drive to the Denny Triangle.

This destination means we aren't size-limited.  If someone wants to make a twin-size quilt, it'll be accepted.

We discussed whether we needed to label the quilts that we donate and decided a simple label would be good.

Lydia will order some simple labels that say something like "Donated by Needle & I".  These will be available at our meetings and many of us are willing to hand-stitch them onto quilts during the meetings.

More good news.

Cathie has volunteered to serve on the committee, allowing one of the longer-serving members to step down.

Ideas for 2022 meeting activities.

Lydia made a convincing argument that, as a quilt guild, we ought to be doing more quilting-oriented meetings.  She suggested a block-of-the-month style activity where one of us would spend about 15min out of a meeting demonstrating a block.  Attendees would be able to make the block at that time, or could make it at home later.  "Later" could also be two scheduled sew-in meetings, where the presenters would be available to answer questions.
We agreed on 12" (finished size) blocks.  Volunteer presenters are listed with the month of their presentation plus each month's program.  Bold entries are explained below.  If anyone else wants to present a block March, June and August are available.

Month Block presenter Program
February Sandra Mother's Day postcards
March UFO Auffle
April Sue Deanna will show us wool crazy quilting
May Terry sock drive
June sew-in
July Leslie ice cream & Bingo
August Sue will show us landscape appliqué
September Gail mystery table runner
October Auffle
November Marlene sew-in

Notes:
Mother's Day Cards - Lydia and Terry will show us how to make fabric Mother's Day postcards for local care facilities where some residents will appreciate receiving one.  Any we make should be brought to April's meeting so they can be distributed in time.
UFO Auffle - Do you have a project that doesn't inspire you anymore?  Bring it.  Someone else might love it.
Mystery Table Runner - There is interest for a table runner mystery project.  In a case of turn-about is fair play, Lydia volunteered the absent Ruth to present.
Sew-in - Work on any of the demo blocks, or something you've brought, or the Red, White, and Blue quilt we started before the pandemic, or ....

Show & Tell

This is the Guild's Quilt, which members made quite a few years ago.  Gail has had it and wants it to be enjoyed by others.  It'll be kept in our space here and we can hang it from the closet doors during meetings.

She also has a feed sack quilt for donation.

Deanna is working on these "pot stickers" in wool felt.  These are the December versions of the ones she's been making in 2021.  Their bamboo sticks hold them up out of a houseplant's pot.

Sandra used a block that Lydia demonstrated in April 2019 to solve the perennial marital bed covers disagreement.  It's a half-queen size, and it's reversible because she couldn't decide which setting for this block she likes best.  Most of the fabric is leftover from a wedding quilt.
