May meeting in the park

It was lovely to see you all and the weather mostly cooperated.  We have lots to show and tell.

First, Gail needs 5" squares of 1930s fabrics.  Any color(s).

Hope told us about the pincushion she made for her granddaughter.

Lydia has finished the llamas.  First, two placemats for the bridal shower.

The llama wall hanging who's instructions were so badly edited.

And Roxanne Carter's current mystery.

Jean R. made this as part of another group of quilters.

Sandra O. has made a fifth dragon quilt for the grandkids.  One more to go.

Jean S. is stash-busting with some Trip Around the World blocks.

And again with a colorful exercise in partial seams.

Gail brought four quilts for donation.  She made the first one.

Her friend Barbara Y. made these three, using Gail's Bunnies by the Bay leftovers.

Terry made a bargello table runner.

Sue has been experimenting with Heat 'n Bond, gearing up for an art quilt.  Here are her two small landscapes.

Deanna got this quilt at QA.

And she's been working on her apple wool appliqué wall hanging.  She started it as a way to learn more embroidery stitches.

Sandra P. made an alphabet book for her grandnephew.

IDEAS for the future

Charlene has an idea for a group project that would work for as many who want to take part.  We would decide on a size for donation quilts, such as 36" square.  We would divide up into smaller groups, perhaps 4 people in each.  Each group would make these quilts, round-robin style, so that in the end we would produce as many quilts for donation as there are participants.

We have money we could use for a speaker and we could get speakers via Zoom.  One option offered was Just Get It Done Quilts, Karen Brown.  You can check her YouTube channel here.
