On this lovely evening, the meeting was well attended!
We started with Show & Tell and proceeded to Justine's tutorial in paper embossing.
Show & Tell
Barbara's daughter found this king-sized quilt top at a thrift store AND got it for half-price, a whopping $4. Incredible. The picture doesn't show it: the thin black strips surrounding the blocks are piping.
Sandra O's nieces made these 2 quilts and Leslie quilted them. The first has a blue Minky back.
Marlene made the May Block of the Month blocks and also one of our standard charity quilts.
Ruth made this one.
Jean R constructed and Leslie quilted these 3 for donation.
Featured Program
Justine brought all the supplies except pencils and scissors. She passed out card stock for the embossing backing and packets of 1" square papers in a variety of colors and designs.
We were directed to choose 3 sets of squares. Two sets of 5 squares to form the heart, and one set of 6 squares to form the background. Some of these would need to be cut on the diagonal for placement.
Prep the backing by drawing in the midlines to use as placement lines.
Next, arrange the selected squares in the heart arrangement on card stock to our preference and in the scheme:
When we were happy with the arrangement, use a glue stick to adhere each square and triangle to the card stock.
Now it was time to choose one of the three patterns to use in Justine's embossing machine.
Next, we trimmed our hearts.
Then we glued the trimmed hearts to a folded blank greeting card.
There are lots of photos of finished cards, so some cards show up more than once below. Lots of us made two cards.
NEXT MONTH
Jean R will lead us in making a charity quilt.
Bring a piece of fabric that is 12 1/2" square and is any combination of blue and orange in color.
