December's Meeting

It's the holiday potluck and trivet swap.

Food

Tables were decorated with tinsel garlands and battery-operated candles.  Christmas bulb necklaces came too.

A table full of delicious food.

Show and Tell

Hope made this for herself and Leslie quilted it.

Ruth made this mystery quilt entirely from her stash.

Sandra O. made this sampler from Pat Sloan.

She also made this panel for her niece who owns horses.

This is Gail's Round Robin.

Trivet Swap

The table of wrapped trivets.  There were 13 participants.

My phone's camera had focusing issues with some of these trivets.  (It's not your computer.)

November's meeting

Show & Tell

Two parts: Quilts we've made for the Round Robin and those we haven't.

Round Robin quilts

Sue's

Jean S.'s

Jean R.'s

Marlene's

Other quilts

Jean S. has been working on her to-do pile

This one is flannel.

Ruth's Holloween runner - made entirely from her stash!

Sandra P.'s late queen-size wedding quilt for a nephew

Leslie's in-progress Hobo quilt

Ruth demonstrated the Disappearing Hourglass block

1. First, make an hourglass block.  The block in this photo was made with 7" squares.

2. Make four cuts, each 2 1/4" away from the center, two vertically and two horizontally. (If your hourglass block is smaller, use a smaller distance from the center for your cuts.)

Here, the pieces are a little separated to show the locations of the cuts.

3. Rotate the pieces and sew them back together

Here are some examples.

This is what happens if you use the same technique with a four patch.

October's Auffle

 Show & Tell

This was Sandra's show.

This little one is for donation.

This is for her niece.

These hummingbirds are Roxanne's pattern.  The back is covered in colorful dragonflies.

This one is for a niece, too.  It's the appliquéd birds that we saw her working on this summer.

There were lots of contributions for the annual auffle.  Three rows worth!
