Tea Party

We enjoyed tea, projects, and of course Show & Tell!

Marlene created a wonderfully masculine quilt for her son.

Deanna took a class in fussy cutting landscapes 17 years ago.  It's finally quilted.

Jean made this and some other Mariner compasses using Robin Ruth's strip piecing method.

Hope brought a charity quilt for donation. [All that sunshine behind her really yellowed the picture.]

The current state of Sandra's needle-turn appliqué obsession.

Sandra also showed the results of her first experience with Shout Color Catchers.
  • ~4yds of dark purple prints in the washing machine
  • a small piece of bleached muslin
  • 1 Color Catcher
  • warm wash

Color catcher on top; one of the purple fabrics beneath it; the still-white muslin at bottom.
There was no visible staining of the muslin.  Amazing!

Upcoming meeting

From Leslie:

The next Needle & I meeting is Monday, May 13--and we will be having a tea party. Please bring finger food to share. Hot water and cups, some tea options, and sweetener will be provided. Please bring a project to work on.

For June, we are planning on putting together red, white & blue blocks and quilts. You can make some blocks ahead of time--or come and make some at the meeting. Use any pattern to make 9.5" unfinished blocks using red/white/blue fabrics. At the meeting, we will work on additional blocks, and sashing and putting together quilt tops. For this meeting, we will need machines, rulers, mats and rotary cutters. The hope is to put together several bigger tops (throw or twin) that can then be quilted and donated to Children's.

July is ice cream and Bingo--and we need someone to coordinate this meeting. We may need additional bingo sheets, we'll need a caller, and we need prizes.
